LOCUM Orthopedic Surgeon – Mason City, Iowa
Trauma & General Orthopedic Surgery | Clinic + 24-Hour Call Coverage
365 Healthcare is seeking a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon for a locum tenens opportunity in Mason City, Iowa. This assignment combines orthopedic trauma call coverage with follow-up clinic responsibilities in a busy regional referral center serving a large multi-county population.
Coverage is needed for specific June and July blocks with ongoing opportunities available thereafter.
Schedule
• Monday – Friday clinic coverage• Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM• 24-hour orthopedic call coverage• Follow-up clinic care for operative and consult patients• Ongoing coverage opportunities available
Coverage Needed
• June 23 (7:00 AM) – June 26 (7:00 AM)• July 3 (7:00 AM) – July 15 (7:00 AM)• Ongoing future coverage available
Practice Overview
• Regional referral center serving 16 surrounding counties• Level III Trauma Center• EMR: Epic• Average hospital census: 160 patients daily• Orthopedic group of 4 physicians• 7 Advanced Practice Providers• Teaching opportunities with residency and PA student programs
Clinical Responsibilities
• Orthopedic trauma call coverage• Emergency Department consultations• Inpatient orthopedic consultations• Surgical management of orthopedic injuries• Post-operative rounding• Follow-up clinic evaluations• Supervision and collaboration with APPs• Fracture management and trauma care
Required Surgical Scope
Physicians must be comfortable performing:
• Total hip replacement• Total knee replacement• Total shoulder replacement• Hand surgery• Wrist surgery• Shoulder procedures• Hip procedures• Knee procedures• Foot and ankle surgery• Fracture care• Orthopedic trauma surgery• Sports medicine procedures
Support Structure
• Dedicated nursing support• Cast technicians• Surgical schedulers• Medical imaging onsite• Laboratory services onsite• Pharmacy services onsite• Established orthopedic support team
Practice Environment
• High-volume orthopedic service line• Broad mix of elective and trauma cases• Strong APP support• Modern orthopedic practice infrastructure• Regional referral base exceeding 200,000 population
Qualifications
• Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon• Active Iowa Medical License• Experience with total joint replacement surgery• Experience managing orthopedic trauma• Clean malpractice and background history• Ability to cover both required date blocks
