Job Description
Locum Physician - Hematology Oncology Coos Bay, OR
Are you a dedicated Hematology Oncology specialist looking to make a meaningful impact while enjoying the scenic beauty of Oregon? Join Bay Area Hospital's esteemed outpatient cancer center as a Locum Physician, where your expertise will directly enhance patient care and contribute to a compassionate healthcare community. This ongoing opportunity offers flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and the chance to work in a supportive team environment committed to your professional success.
In this vital role, you will serve as an integral member of the clinical team, performing a wide range of tasks and procedures aligned with your licensure as a medical oncologist/hematologist. You will work primarily in an outpatient setting utilizing the EPIC EMR system, focusing on diagnosing and managing solid tumor cases with a focus on timely patient care. This position is ideal for physicians who thrive in collaborative environments and can provide 4 to 5 days of coverage weekly, with scheduled call duties including one weekend per month (1:4 ratio). You will be part of a dedicated team currently comprising three physicians and two APPs, supporting a patient volume averaging 10-15 outpatients daily and inpatient chemotherapy when necessary.
Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical skills, excellent patient communication, and efficiency in outpatient oncology/hematology care. The ability to work independently while maintaining thorough documentation and adherence to protocols is essential. Familiarity with EPIC EMR and experience with outpatient oncology/hematology practices will be advantageous.
Preferred candidates will hold valid medical licensure in Oregon and have previous experience in outpatient oncology or hematology settings. Board certification in Oncology or Hematology is preferred but not mandatory. Additional skills such as proficiency with EPIC, teamwork, adaptability, and a passion for patient-centered care are highly valued.
Other requirements include a credentialing timeframe of approximately 6-8 weeks, optional travel reimbursement, and willingness to participate in a structured orientation involving 4 hours of unpaid EPIC training. Candidates must be comfortable with outpatient procedures, inpatient rounds when needed, and maintaining a flexible schedule to meet patient and team needs.
Experience the rewards of a flexible, impactful role with competitive hourly pay. We offer weekly pay via direct deposit, comprehensive medical benefits (W-2), a robust referral bonus program, and a dedicated support team committed to your success. Additional benefits include paid sick time, licensure and certification reimbursements, and reimbursement for travel when applicable.
Take the next step in your oncology or hematology career by joining our team. Apply now to contribute to exceptional patient care in a beautiful setting, and enjoy a rewarding locum experience that recognizes your expertise and dedication.
