Locum Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant 100% OR Coverage

Locum Tenens | Weekday Surgical Schedule | Academic Program

A leading academic cardiovascular surgery program is seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for 100% operative locum coverage, supporting a collaborative team of cardiothoracic surgeons within a high-acuity surgical environment.

Assignment Highlights:

Schedule: 4-day work week (10-hour shifts)
Weekends: None
Call: Rare and only in unexpected coverage situations
Practice Focus: 100% operating room responsibilities
Collegial surgical team with resident and multidisciplinary support
Consistent cardiac surgery case flow within an established program

Clinical Responsibilities

First assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures including CABG and valve surgeries
Assist with operative exposure, cannulation, conduit harvesting, and surgical closure
Work closely with cardiothoracic surgeons and multidisciplinary OR teams
Maintain operative workflow efficiency and patient safety standards

Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
Active or eligible state licensure
Minimum 2 years cardiothoracic surgery first-assist experience
EVH experience strongly preferred
Ability to step into a surgical-first environment with minimal orientation
