Job Description
Our Client, a Healthcare company, is looking for a Long Term Care for their Hot Springs, SD location.Responsibilities:
- The CNA is responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care to residents and assisting in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse in a manner that is in keeping with the philosophies of the facility and the nursing department.
- The CNA performs resident care activities including answering call lights, serving and collecting food trays, feeding residents as needed, measuring and recording food and liquid intake and all output to include drainage systems as ordered.
- Performs activities of daily living, i.e., dresses and undresses patient, bathes and performs personal cares to include oral hygiene, pericare, foley care, backrubs and shaving in a manner consistent with maintaining patient privacy and dignity.
- The CNA performs routine treatments/procedures including warm and cold applications, and assists RN/LPN with complicated treatment procedures. Collects specimens, i.e., stool, urine or sputum.
- Takes and records vital signs, weights and height.
- This position provides general nursing care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning residents, applying/utilizing special equipment, assisting in use of bed pan and urinal commode, and ambulating residents.
- The CNA assists in preparations of resident rooms and beds for receiving admissions.
- Assures resident rooms and work areas are clean and safe.
- The CNA cares for residents under the supervision of licensed nurse, and reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients to RN/LPN.
- This position maintains established facility and department policies, procedures and objectives, fire, safety, environmental, quality assurance, hazardous material, and infection control policies. Knows personal role in fire drills.
- The CNA attends required meetings, in services, and educational programs; keeps up to date on posted information, notes and minutes.
- Serves on nursing service committees as requested.
- Visual and auditoria ability to observe current physical and mental statuses of patients and to detect any changes in this status;
- Ability to verbally communicate with residents, members of the health care team, visitors and family;
- Ability to perform medium to heavy lifting, pushing, turning of residents, equipment and supplies; frequent reaching, bending, walking and standing.
- Demonstrates competence and dependability in performing resident care activities and treatments to ensure quality care.
- Displays initiative in performance of duties to ensure care is delivered and tasks are completed in an efficient manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to take directions and follow through with tasks to ensure that patients in acute situations receive proper care.
- Is familiar with facility policies, procedures and objectives to function as a reliable member of the health care team.
- Displays cooperation with others to encourage a harmonious working relationship in nursing service as well as the facility.
- Displays ability to recognize and maintain the confidentiality, privacy and respect of the resident while performing cares in order to maintain the resident’s dignity.
- Displays reliability and flexibility in regards to attendance and availability for work in the facility.
- Must be certified through the South Dakota Board of Nursing
- Minimum Years of Experience: 1
- Potential contact with blood, body fluids and tissues
- Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25-50 pounds of force consistently to move objects
