Job Description

The Academy of the Holy Cross is seeking a Long-Term Substitute Theology Teacher to teach 10th-grade Theology for approximately 6 weeks beginning September 14, 2026. A successful candidate will be able to engage students in thoughtful exploration of the Catholic faith while creating a welcoming, academically engaging, and well-managed classroom environment.

MISSION AND CORE VALUES:

The Academy of the Holy Cross, a Catholic College preparatory school sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Cross since 1868, is dedicated to educating young women in a Christ-centered community which values diversity. The Academy is committed to developing women of courage, compassion and scholarship who responsibly embrace the social, spiritual and intellectual challenges of the world.

All faculty and staff must demonstrate a commitment to the Core Values of the Academy: community, Catholic identity, academic excellence, educating the whole person, tradition, diversity, leadership, single-sex education, environment, and communication.

The Theology Department works to guide students toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. We seek to communicate a truly Christian worldview in which issues of today's challenging environment are seen in the light of eternity. With a firm foundation in Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition as outlined by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, we challenge students to draw connections, build community, serve the marginalized and choose the good freely and with joy.

Course

The Paschal Mystery

This course explores the person and mission of Jesus Christ, with particular attention to the Incarnation and the Paschal Mystery.
