Duties, Responsibilities, and Qualifications
Position Summary
The low-voltage Cabling Design Specialist supports the planning, coordination, and quality assurance of low-voltage and telecommunications infrastructure projects. This role works closely with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure installations meet organizational standards, project requirements, and healthcare compliance guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings to support project coordination and communication.
- Perform quality control (QC) inspections on cabling installations to ensure adherence to design standards, specifications, and industry best practices.
- Coordinate activities with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to support timely and efficient project execution.
- Participate in construction-related onsite meetings, site walks, and project walkthroughs to monitor progress and identify issues.
- Investigate, assess, and gather technical and site-specific information for upcoming and future projects.
- Manage and oversee small-scale cabling and telecommunications projects from initiation through completion.
- Document findings, progress updates, and issues, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders.
- Support compliance with healthcare environment requirements, including infection control and safety standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to successfully pass drug screening and background check.
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the low-voltage cabling industry.
- Basic experience working in a healthcare environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Experience and Skills
- 5–10 years of low-voltage installation experience, preferably within healthcare settings.
- 1–2 years of project management experience, including coordination of small to mid-sized projects.
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu for document review and markup.
- BICSI certifications (e.g., Installer, Technician, or Designer).
- Manufacturer-specific certifications related to structured cabling systems.
- Familiarity with Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) requirements and procedures.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in active construction and clinical environments.
Work Environment
This position requires regular onsite presence at construction sites and healthcare facilities. The role may involve walking job sites, interacting with contractors, and navigating active clinical environments while adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
