Friends School of Baltimore has an opening for a full-time Learning Specialist/Interventionist beginning in August 2026. The position is a10.5 month position requiring a proactive approach to supporting families and students with consistent communication and feedback. Thisposition will collaborate with two guidance counselors and two learning specialists in PK-8, as well as teachers in grades PK-5.

Responsibilities:

Student Support & Intervention• Facilitate push-in and pull-out reading and math interventions (Grades 3–5).• Review and interpret educational evaluations (e.g., psychoeducational, OT) to develop and manage Individual Learning Plans.• Maintain a caseload of students with learning plans and attend grade-level and Student Support Team meetings.• Administer individual student assessments and maintain up-to-date student profiles outlining strengths, needs, and accommodations.

Faculty Partnership & Instructional Coaching• Provide teachers with clear summaries of student learning profiles and accommodation guidance.• Coach faculty in differentiated instruction, executive functioning support, and mind/brain/education pedagogies.• Support implementation of accommodations and lead targeted professional development.

Family Partnership & Referral• Maintain consistent communication with families regarding student progress and accommodations.• Refer families to appropriate external evaluators, tutors, and support services.• Maintain relationships with local evaluators.

Schoolwide Engagement• Serve on the Admissions Committee.• Lead student workshops (e.g., organization, learning differences).• Co-facilitate at least two parent education sessions annually.• Participate fully in the life of the Lower School, including supervisory duties.

Professional Growth Engage in ongoing professional learning in culturally responsive teaching, restorative practices, and racial justice.

QualificationsRequired: Bachelor's degree; Experience reading psychological educational and neuropsychological assessments in order to create• learning profiles also requiredPreferred: Master's degree and a minimum of two-five years experience preferred as well as experience with early reading• intervention and training in Orton-Gillingham.• Candidates should demonstrate a willingness to understand and incorporate Quaker Principles and Quaker education into their work.
