Job Description
We are now seeking a dependable, safety-focused Machine Operator to support daily manufacturing operations at our client located in Greenville, SC. This role is responsible for safely setting up and operating various metal fabrication and forming equipment to produce quality parts that meet engineering specifications and production schedules.Operators may be assigned to one or more of the following machines:
- Press Brake
- Federal Press
- Tabbing Machine
- Channel Punch
- Angle Saw
- Bundle Saw
- Band Saw
- Chop Saw
- Upright
- Bolt Plate
- Decoiler
- Laser (CNC Laser Cutting System)
- Set up, adjust, and operate assigned equipment according to work instructions and production schedules.
- Interpret blueprints, job travelers, and work orders to ensure accurate part production.
- Perform first-piece and in-process inspections using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares, gauges, etc.).
- Load raw materials (sheet, coil, angle, channel, tubing, plate) into machines using proper lifting techniques and material handling equipment.
- Monitor machine performance and make minor adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
- Identify and report machine malfunctions, quality issues, or safety concerns to supervision or maintenance.
- Maintain production output and document quantities accurately.
- Assist with tooling changes and setup verification, particularly on press brakes and laser equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, including proper PPE usage and lockout/tagout practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with 5S and housekeeping standards.
- Support cross-training initiatives and assist in other departments as needed.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Experience operating press brakes, laser systems, or metal cutting equipment strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings.
- Basic understanding of metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to use measuring devices accurately.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (with assistance for heavier materials).
- Exposure to noise, metal dust, and moving machinery.
- Must be able to wear required PPE (safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection).
