Machine Operator-2Nd Shift

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Operator/Machinist to operate various machines, including centerless grinders, long-stroke gun drill machines, and hone machines, to perform assigned tasks. You will produce precision parts using both manual and automated equipment and accurate measurement tools. A successful operator must possess manual dexterity, an eye for detail, and knowledge of basic mathematics and mechanics, as well as a respect for safety precautions. The goal is to ensure effective production output.

Responsibilities

• Review samples, drawings, and instructions to understand specifications of output.
• Understand basic shop math and take measurements to ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Monitor machines while working to identify issues.
• Check output to ensure consistency within specifications and detect defects.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and report minor damage.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to use precision tools (e.g., micrometers) to take accurate measurements.
• Ability to read blueprints and manuals.
• Proficiency in math with analytical abilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship is an asset.
• Experience with centerless grinding is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of tooling requirements to set up and operate machines in the departments.
• Familiarity with ISO Quality System, particularly in medical device manufacturing.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to process information in both English and Metric measurement systems, including conversion between the two, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
