Job Description

As a Machinist Level 2 FAA 1st shift, here at Honeywell Aerospace is primarily responsible for machine handling, operation of additive manufacturing equipment, and supporting production activities. This role requires hands-on technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and project teams to ensure successful builds and product quality.

You will play a key role in ensuring that manufacturing processes meet quality standards and production schedules while adhering to safety protocols. You will report directly to our Machine Shop Manager and you'll work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on an on-site work schedule.

In this role, you will impact the efficiency and quality of our manufacturing operations by producing high-quality components that meet customer specifications and support Honeywell's commitment to excellence.

  • · Operate additive manufacturing (AM) machines and associated accessory equipment.

  • · Perform cleaning, setup, and routine maintenance of AM equipment.

  • · Monitor builds and identify issues related to supports, geometry, or process limitations.

  • · Communicate build issues and observations to engineering teams.

  • · Interpret Manufacturing Operation and Tooling Sheet and follow detailed work instructions.

  • · Utilize enterprise systems (SAP and TeamCenter) for production tracking and documentation.

  • · Apply creative problem-solving to troubleshoot machine or process-related issues.

  • · Collaborate with technicians and cross-functional teams to achieve production goals.

YOU MUST HAVE

Technical Knowledge

  • Understanding of machining fundamentals including:

o Tolerances and measurements

o Use of precision tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, feeler gauges, torque wrenches)

o Basic operation of lathe and milling machines 1

  • Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes including:

o Build supports and geometric limitations

o Ability to identify build issues and communicate findings to engineering 2

Systems & Process Knowledge

  • Ability to interpret work instructions and MOTs.
  • Proficiency in SAP and TeamCenter systems.
  • Understanding of fixed process requirements and adherence to standardized procedures 3

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication skills with engineering and project teams.
  • Effective teamwork and collaboration abilities.

Primary Focus

  • Machine handling and operation within the Additive Manufacturing environment.
  • Creative problem-solving and troubleshooting capability 4

WE VALUE

  • Associate degree or technical certification in machining or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a machining environment, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software and CNC machine operation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing production priorities.

FAA REQUIREMENTS:

All applicants for placement in DOT/FAA safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test, testing for Marijuana, Cocaine, Amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine, MDMA, MDA), Phencyclidine (PCP), and Opioids (codeine, heroin, morphine, oxycodone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone, hydromorphone). The DOT/FAA regulations require all employees, regular and temporary, in safety-sensitive positions, to be included in the Honeywell Anti-drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan.

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.
