Mad Science of DC is seeking exceptional college students and recent graduates to serve as Camp Counselors for our highly regarded STEM summer camps. This is a high-responsibility role for individuals who are confident, dependable, and energized by working with children.
Each week, you will guide a group of elementary-aged campers through hands-on science investigations including rocket launches, laser demonstrations, chemical reactions, engineering challenges, and take-home projects. You will not simply supervise — you will teach, motivate, and inspire.

Your Role
As a Mad Science Camp Counselor, you will be responsible for the success, safety, and engagement of your camp group each week.
Responsibilities include:
  • Leading daily science activities using our fully developed curriculum
  • Managing group dynamics and maintaining a positive environment
  • Delivering engaging demonstrations and hands-on experiments
  • Communicating professionally with parents and site staff
  • Ensuring safety procedures are followed at all times
  • Serving as the primary role model for your campers
  • We provide all materials, equipment, and training. No lesson planning required.
    Camp Schedule
    Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PMOptional before-care (8–9 AM) and after-care (4–6 PM) at many locations

  • You will be assigned to camp locations within a reasonable driving distance of your home and typically remain at the same site for the entire week (often multiple weeks). A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license are required.
    We Are Looking For Individuals Who
    ✔ Demonstrate maturity, reliability, and leadership ability✔ Have experience working with children ages 6–12✔ Can confidently manage a group and maintain structure✔ Communicate clearly and professionally✔ Bring energy, initiative, and a positive presence✔ Have access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license✔ Are available most weeks between June 22 and August 21
    This role is especially well suited for college students or graduates pursuing education, healthcare, psychology, STEM, or leadership-oriented careers.
    No advanced science background is required. We train you thoroughly.
    Training
    Paid training and orientation will take place during the first two weeks of June. Full availability during this period is required.

  • Base pay: $650 per week (up to $810 per week)
