Job Description
- Performs carpentry and building maintenance repairs assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent.
- Estimates the cost of materials and, through coordination with the Maintenance Superintendent, prepares purchase order requests for materials and parts.
- Maintains material safety data sheets in all vehicles for products used.
- Repairs furniture, cabinets, and partitions. Installs and repairs doors, locks, building hardware, etc. Performs maintenance on playground equipment.
- Performs painting and building weatherization tasks.
- Performs ground maintenance work, including the pruning, cutting of shrubs, plants, and grass, and installing woodchips and borders.
- Inspects Agency vehicles on a weekly basis to prevent costly repairs.
- Attends all required training and maintains required certifications.
- Utilizes certified renovator practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Conduct work in a moderate-paced environment.
- Majority of work centers on troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of low to moderate-income homes and Agency buildings to provide a safe, comfortable environment.
- Upper body strength to lift 85 pounds and carry 100 feet and move heavy loads using material handling equipment.
- Lower body strength to stand/walk throughout the workday.
- Climb various ladders and scaffolding somewhat frequently relative to other tasks.
- Ability to frequently stoop, kneel and reach. Local travel to meetings and site work areas.
- Environmental demands include moderate exposure to weather conditions and various airborne particles of sawdust, insulation, and common dust.
- Work is performed in limited and inaccessible areas frequently.
- Frequent exposure to various supplies containing hazardous materials or chemicals.
- Completion of vocational training course in building trades and there (3) years of full-time paid employment in the building trades. Additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-to-year basis.
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Must be insurable possess or be able to obtain a commercial chauffeurs license and have a safe driving record.
- Must be able to direct and work with people.
- Possess no non-qualifying physical requirements.
