A Floor Tech in a skilled nursing facility specializes in maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary flooring surfaces (carpet, tile, concrete) to ensure infection control. Responsibilities include operating heavy-duty equipment for buffing, stripping, waxing, and shampooing floors, alongside daily cleaning duties to create a sanitized environment for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Floor Maintenance: Performs deep cleaning, stripping, sealing, waxing, buffing, and polishing of hard surface floors.
- Carpet Care: Vacuums, shampoos, and extracts carpets in patient rooms, hallways, and common areas.
- Equipment Operation: Safely operates and maintains machinery such as automatic scrubbers, floor buffers, burnishers, and carpet cleaners.
- Infection Control: Follows strict environmental services (EVS) protocols, using appropriate chemicals to disinfect surfaces and prevent the spread of pathogens.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensures compliance with all safety regulations, including MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for chemical handling, and follows infection control standards.
- Facility Support: Assists with cleaning discharge rooms, moving furniture/equipment, and responding to facility needs.
