Job Description

Help lead the maintenance strategy that supports Barnhart's nationwide fleet and complex heavy-lift operations.

Position Summary: The Maintenance Director is responsible for leading and optimizing the company's fleet maintenance program across all locations. This role ensures operational readiness, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement while supporting regional and branch teams. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who can drive performance, enhance systems, and collaborate across departments to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and continuously improve the company-wide fleet maintenance program, ensuring efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness
  • Facilitate weekly maintenance meetings to review performance, resolve issues, and align priorities
  • Partner with the IT department to enhance maintenance systems, reporting, and process automation
  • Support branch maintenance teams in executing maintenance strategies and resolving operational challenges
  • Collaborate with Regional Directors to develop and implement proactive maintenance plans
  • Coordinate with critical service center functions, including:
    • Fleet Services
    • DOT Compliance
    • Safety & Quality
  • Provide leadership and coordination support during branch acquisitions and integrations
  • Monitor key maintenance metrics and drive initiatives for continuous improvement
  • Perform additional duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Proven experience managing fleet maintenance programs, preferably in a multi-site environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical mindset with a focus on problem-solving and process improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
