ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Daily follow-up with departmental assignments, checking on progress and proper completion. Help to facilitate as needed with instruction or parts. Report progress multiple times daily to the department supervisor.
- Create, update, maintain, and prioritize preventive maintenance actions relating to facilities and maintenance. Oversee and facilitate action to completion.
- Help keep parts inventory, including developing a min/max system to facilitate stocking and ordering.
- Repair and maintenance electrical work focuses on repairing, constructing, installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
- Perform component-level repairs on DC or AC motor controls, PLCs, process controllers, and other electronics.
- Review all inspection and preventative maintenance forms for completion and possible issues.
- Report issues to the maintenance supervisor.
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Perform accredited calibration on a wide variety of electronic and mechanical measuring and test equipment.
- Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
- Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
- Strong technical aptitude
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
- Abide by all Company and OSHA safety standards set for work areas.
- Abide by all FDA and applicable Quality standards.
- Don safety equipment and follow instructions for evacuating in case of fire or chemical emergency.
- Work safely by following LOTO, Arch Flash, and other required safety guidelines.
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Technical degree in industrial maintenance, industrial electronics, or mechatronics preferred.
- 2-5 years related experience, preferred.
- Computer Skills

- Welding and pipefitting skills.
- Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
- Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- 5 plus years related experience, preferred.
- Skilled in MIG (Gas Metal Arc Welding / GMAW) for high-speed production work and thinner metals.
- Proficient in TIG (Gas Tungsten Arc Welding / GTAW) for precise, high-quality welds on stainless steel, aluminum, and specialty alloys.
- Experienced in Stick Welding (Shielded Metal Arc Welding / SMAW) for versatile applications in construction, maintenance, and repair.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly.
- Knowledgeable in welding machine setup and adjustments including amperage, voltage, gas flow, and wire speed.
- Skilled in cutting, grinding, and surface preparation to ensure clean and durable welds.
- Repair and maintain mechanical and electrical equipment at Ortec – Piedmont
- Obtain parts and materials from the tool room or warehouse stock.
- Complete required work order documentation accurately and timely.
- Reassemble machinery and equipment, performing all necessary alignments and adjustments to ensure proper operation.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance tasks on assigned equipment.
- Perform lockout/tagout of machinery, equipment, and systems to conduct inspections, repairs, or adjustments safely.
- Perform and document preventive maintenance tasks on assigned equipment.
- Assist with breakdown maintenance for equipment assigned to the maintenance team.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls.
- Inspect and, when necessary, operate machinery and equipment to verify proper function.
- Rebuild, maintain, and service assigned pumps.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
- Understand and operate plant support equipment as required.
- Perform routine logs and checks on plant support equipment.
- Carry out any additional duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic computer skills
- Must be able to write legibly, communicate well with others, and perform basic arithmetic.
- Must be able to read schematic drawings and technical manuals.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in industrial maintenance is required.
