Job Description Job Title: Maintenance Tech II FLSA Status: Hourly Department: Maintenance
SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician II plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of the facility's equipment, systems, and utilities. The position is responsible for performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and operating maintenance equipment. The technician works independently and collaboratively to meet departmental goals and company standards. They are committed to upholding high standards of safety, quality, and productivity, while maintaining positive relationships with customers and fellow team members. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBLITIES: Equipment Inspection and MaintenanceRoutinely inspect equipment to identify and report potential equipment failure or safety issues (personnel and/or food safety) Inspect plant utilities to detect any equipment malfunctions or failures.Perform preventative maintenance tasks for process equipment as scheduled or assigned. Carry out necessary repairs to maintain the operational integrity of equipment and machinery.Maintain areas outside the processing zone in accordance with the Master Sanitation Plan. Perform pre-operational setup and post-operational teardown of process equipment. Equipment Operation and Safety
Operate various power tools, measuring instruments, gas cutting, welding systems, and other maintenance equipment in a safe manner. Safely operate forklifts, manual and electric pallet jacks (Plant Certification required).Ensure all operations comply with safety standards and protocols.Document Maintenance and Record Keeping
Use the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to create, update, and close work orders and preventive maintenance worksheets.Maintain and organize equipment manuals located within the Maintenance Library for reference.Essential Responsibilities Frequency % Of Time

Attend GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and Safety meetings as required.Attend and participate in ongoing training related to the role. Contribute to the management of parts inventory to ensure adequate supplies for maintenance tasks.Food Safety and Employee SafetyMaintenance personnel shall have a thorough understanding of GMP’s and follow accordingly.
Maintenance personnel shall have a thorough understanding of Standard Meat Company’s Maintenance Program, Safety programs and all Company policies and follow accordingly.Maintenance personnel shall maintain the integrity and cleanness of personal tools and company tools. Maintenance personnel shall, under no circumstances, bypass equipment safety devices. QUALIFICATIONS FOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN II: Technical Knowledge and Skills: Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems. Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.Knowledge of maintenance tools, appliances, and devices used for troubleshooting and repair. Intermediate problem-solving abilities, particularly in troubleshooting and root cause analysis. Maintenance and Repair Skills:Expertise in identifying and replacing air filters, V-belts, light bulbs, and basic plumbing components (e.g., water closets, sinks, fittings). Ability to repair doors (e.g., seals, handles).Familiarity with inspection and maintenance of facility safety devices (e.g., fire extinguishers, eyewash stations). Ability to perform basic maintenance on building systems (e.g., boilers, air compressors, HVAC, refrigeration).Experience with motor and gearbox identification and repair, electrical device testing (e.g., motors, brakes), and conveyor belt repairs. Capability to conduct basic welding and fabrication.Experience with pneumatic hose identification and repairs. Mechanical and Electrical Expertise:Ability to perform equipment overhauls, including complete rebuilds of electrical and mechanical systems. Familiarity with safety relays, circuits, and electrical systems such as VFDs and control panels.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to evaluate and contribute to the equipment maintenance scheduling.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:High school diploma with a Trade school certification and/or 3 years related experience.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
