Job Description
About this Position:
Our Facilities and Security Team is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join us in a full-time capacity. This benefits-eligible position primarily follows a standard weekday schedule, though it offers flexibility in coordination with the Facilities and Security Manager to accommodate occasional evening, weekend, or on-call emergency responses.
At Planned Parenthood Association of Utah, our Maintenance Technician is so much more than a handyman; they are the steady hands, proactive problem-solvers, and operational backbone that keep our health centers safe, welcoming, and running smoothly. We’re looking for someone dependable, detail-oriented, and resourceful who thrives in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same. From handling routine upkeep and coordinate vendors to serving as a vital backup for facility security, this role is perfect for someone who takes pride in creating a safe, functional, and supportive space for our staff and the community we serve. Reliability and adaptability are essential. This position requires regional travel to our various locations and plays a critical role in ensuring our environments remain in top shape. If you’re someone who can manage multiple moving pieces with grace, stay calm under pressure, and bring a professional, solution-oriented approach to a mission-driven workplace, we’d love to meet you.
Job Duties:
- Facility Maintenance: Handle daily upkeep, routine repairs (basic plumbing, electrical, etc.), and track maintenance logs across all locations.
- Vendor & Project Support: Coordinate with outside contractors, prepare spaces for project work, and assist with facility renovations or upgrades.
- Security Backup: Under the direction of the Manager, assist with security system checks (cameras, alarms, access control) and help document or respond to security incidents.
- Safety & Compliance: Support emergency preparedness drills, maintain supply inventories, and follow all safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA guidelines.
- Operational Flexibility: Set up meeting spaces, respond to urgent on-site needs, and handle occasional on-call or after-hours emergencies as needed.
What we're looking for:
- High school diploma (or equivalent) and a valid driver's license with the ability to travel to various health center locations.
- Ability to stand for long periods, use ladders, and comfortably lift/carry over 50 pounds.
- Basic knowledge of tools and handiwork (trade skills or previous maintenance/security experience is a huge plus, but we will train!).
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willing to learn internal building and security systems.
- A reliable, detail-oriented professional with strong communication and customer service skills who can stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative team player who works well with diverse communities and aligns with our organizational mission.
As a mission-driven agency, PPAU is deeply invested in a people-first culture. We believe that exceptional care requires a team as multifaceted as the communities we serve. We welcome every individual who shares our commitment to reproductive freedom and high-quality healthcare.
Your unique path and the perspectives shaped by your lived experiences are what we value most. If you are passionate about doing good and thrive in a collaborative environment, we encourage you to apply—regardless of where your professional journey began. We look forward to hearing your story and seeing how your background can help us provide compassionate care to all.
