JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Worker I - Landscaping position is generally responsible for performing a wide variety of general labor tasks, including landscape maintenance, pruning, cleaning, general repairs, painting and seasonal duties. This position will have an emphasis on Landscape maintenance along with other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
- Assist our in-house Horticultural Specialist with tree and flower plantings, removal of invasive species and removal of decaying trees or limbs
- Complete landscaping activities (mowing, raking, planting, urban forestry, chipping, etc.)
- Familiar with heavy equipment operation
- Maintain playground surfacing/removes garbage and disposes of properly
- Perform all seasonal work assignments (e.g. snow removal, salting, ice rink maintenance, etc.)
- Perform set-up and tear-down for programs and special events
- Maintain all tools, equipment, and machinery as necessary
- Inspect park furnishings and landscaping (walkways, parking lots, picnic tables, bleachers, grills, benches, backstops, etc.) - identifies and repairs/reports any failures or hazards
- Snow removal
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years old with High school diploma or equivalent and at least one (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience. A valid Illinois driver's license a required. Must be able to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification upon hire. May be required to obtain State of Illinois Turf & Pest Control operator's license.
SCHEDULING & PAY: This is a full-time, year-round, hourly (non-exempt) position working Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Must be available for required overtime, special events and weather-related duties. The target hiring range is $24.91/hour-$27.09/hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
