About NORY:

At NORY, we design learning journeys where every child in NYC and Boston becomes a risk-taking entrepreneur, inquisitive problem solver, and empathetic leader. As the largest STEM camp provider in NYC with 4000+ campers annually, we are the Disney World of STEM education, where each learning experience is magical, impactful, and memorable. The Role:

Are you a maker educator driven by a passion for hands-on engineering, design-thinking, and mechatronics? Do you excel in designing learning experiences that inspire young minds through prototyping and experience design? If you’re continually exploring the best ways to nurture Generation Alpha and eager to lead such efforts, you might be the ideal candidate for our Maker Education Fabricator: Prototyping and Experience Design role.

Your Canvas:

  • Prototyping Design and Fabrication: Design and fabricate hands-on STEM camp projects in robotics, engineering, and woodworking, tailored for children aged 3-12.

  • Interdisciplinary Learning: Utilize your intellectual curiosity to integrate multiple learning domains into a unified, interdisciplinary experience that spans STEM and beyond.

  • Storytelling & Experience Creation: Develop thematic worlds as immersive and engaging as a Disney World ride, leveraging your storytelling skills to enhance the educational impact.

  • Communication: Empower teachers across all NORY campuses to consistently deliver your vision, using your strong multi-channel communication skills, particularly in video formats.

  • Child Development Insight: Apply your deep understanding of children aged 3-12 to tailor projects to their developmental stages and interests.

  • Teacher Empathy: Train and coach teachers to become the rock stars of our campsites, enabling them to effectively utilize the tools and projects you develop.

  • Coding Knowledge (Plus): Your coding skills will be an asset, especially for enabling older children to engage in advanced robotic projects.

Application Requirements:

Please include a portfolio of your maker projects in your application. We're eager to see your fabrication work in electronics (circuits, motors), woodworking, 3D printing, laser cutting, Arduino, computing controllers and platforms (Raspberry Pi, Microbits), and coding tools like Scratch. Please kindly explain the purpose and educational potential behind your creations.

Why This Role Rocks:

This role offers a unique opportunity to grow with a rapidly expanding leader in STEM education, dedicated to nurturing Generation Alpha. You'll innovate and develop powerful, effective methods to inspire future changemakers. You will see the immediate impact of your creative work and actively collect feedback, significantly influencing hundreds of teachers and thousands of campers across multiple cities as we build a vibrant hub of visionary educators at our STEM camps.

Join Our Vision:

We're searching for makers who are not just skilled but also deeply align with our core values. At NORY, our 'Ways of Being' guide everything we do:

  • We are purposeful in our actions, always asking "why" to cultivate inner motivation.

  • We ask "how to make it work" before wondering "if it will be possible."

  • Our decisions are grounded in data and logic.

  • We are accountable and disciplined.

  • We actively seek feedback, embracing different perspectives and effective methods that contribute to our growth.

  • We avoid superficial solutions, opting instead to thoroughly analyze problems to create sustainable, scalable responses.

  • We are unifiers, fostering a loving and caring team environment that deeply values empathy and compassion.

These aren't just words; they're the essence of our DNA. If these values speak to you, see how you align with our complete 'Ways of Being' at www.nory.co/value.Compensation:

  • $20.00 - $35.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Not applicable

Ready to Make a Difference?

If shaping the best STEM learning experience for our future changemakers excites you, we can't wait to meet you. Please send your portfolio, resume, and a note explaining why you're a fit for this role to peter(at)nory.co
