Join Our Team as a Certified Peer Support Specialist

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of those in need? Join our Encampment team in the heart of Sussex County, where you'll work directly with individuals experiencing homelessness and those seeking recovery from mental health and substance use disorders. Based in the charming town of Georgetown, DE, you'll find a supportive community and a fulfilling work environment.

Job Responsibilities

Conduct outreach services, spending 80% of your time in the field and 20% in the office.
Provide immediate support and guidance to individuals entering recovery and mental health treatment.
Engage with individuals about seeking treatment or other services.
Build rapport with those who are unhoused and with substance use and/or mental health disorders.
Offer direct and indirect peer support services and emotional support to clients and/or families.
Assist with client transportation and referrals to treatment.
Provide on-the-spot assistance with Narcan and/or CPR as needed.

Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Valid driver's license.
Direct personal experience living with mental illness and/or addiction and recovery, with a willingness to self-disclose this lived experience for educational and supportive purposes.
Peer Certification or willingness to obtain within the first six months of hire.
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel.

Preferences

Experience in outreach or community support roles.
Familiarity with Sussex County and surrounding areas.
