Manager Accounting

SUMMARY:

The person in this position supervises capital accounting, grant accounting and project billing within the National Region finance team

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Execute and/or manage capital accounting functions including budgeting, forecasting, fixed asset transactions, account reconciliations, and adherence to internal controls and policies
• Support the company's external reporting processes, including the annual audit and quarterly reviews of the consolidated financial statements and other requests for services performed by the company's external auditors
• Continually assess effectiveness and efficiency of accounting operations, identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement as well as establishing and evaluating appropriate observable metrics
• Support the company's mergers-and-acquisitions activities, including participating in due diligence activities and ensuring effective integration of accounting processes
• Support internal audit activities within sphere of influence
• Supervise and train assigned staff
• Manage other projects and perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Transportation industry experience, particularly railroad, preferred
• Good communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or MBA preferred
• A minimum of seven to ten years of related experience; US public-company experience preferred
