Job Title: Manager, General Ledger Accounting & Financial Reporting

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Please summarise the overall purpose of the role.

Ownership of Reporting & Insights

  • End-to-end accountability for monthly/quarterly financial reporting (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow).
  • Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to Zone/Country CFOs and Controllers, influencing decisions beyond reporting accuracy.

Governance & Controls

  • Ensure strong close governance-timely GL closure, high-quality reconciliations, and strict compliance with SOX/MICS/IFRS.
  • Act as escalation point for complex accounting issues, driving root-cause resolution and long-term fixes.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead and coach teams of Principal Analysts and Analysts, building future leadership pipeline.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.

Performance & Stakeholder Management

  • Deliver on SLAs and KPIs across GCC/Zone operations.
  • Partner with global and zone stakeholders to standardize processes, resolve issues, and align finance operations with business needs.

Transformation & Improvement

  • Drive automation, process simplification, and transformation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Champion continuous improvement projects, ensuring productivity gains and compliance uplift.

KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Financial Reporting & Governance

  • Ownership of Zone/Country Reporting Pack: Oversee and sign-off on supplementary schedules (Tax, CAPEX, Loans/Receivables/Payables, Brand Profitability, Inventory on Financial Instruments, etc.), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness.
  • Variance Analysis Oversight: Guide teams in performing detailed variance analysis on tax, brand profitability, and other schedules. Present insights to Zone Controllers and CFOs with clear root-cause and action plan.
  • Quarterly & Management Reporting: Ensure robust preparation and review of quarterly packs, management questionnaires, and survey responses, aligning with Group and Zone expectations.

Close & Controls

  • Month-End Close Leadership: Accountable for timely GL closure across sub-modules, driving cross-team coordination (AP, AR, FA, Tax, Treasury).
  • Journal & Reconciliation Governance: Provide oversight on manual journal postings and review compliance with Global Policy. Ensure high-quality Balance Sheet reconciliations with open items tracked, escalated, and resolved.
  • MICS & SOX Compliance: Lead the control testing framework, ensuring evidence is properly reviewed, exceptions are closed, and results are reported to Zone/Global leadership.

Project Leadership

  • Global & Local Initiatives: Act as project sponsor/driver (not just participant) for global and zone initiatives such as GCOA, FCCS, Cognos flow, etc. Ensure scope, milestones, and outcomes are achieved.
  • Change Enablement: Partner with Global Process Owners and Controllers to align system/process changes with business needs, ensuring adoption and sustainability.

Stakeholder & People Management

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as key liaison between GCC, Zone, and Country Controllers, ensuring transparency in financial reporting, controls, and projects.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor Band VII Principal Analysts and Analysts, building capability in technical accounting, control rigor, and analytical skills. Drive succession planning and employee engagement.

  • Act as process owner and governance leader for Financial Reporting/ATR, ensuring end-to-end accountability for timely and accurate reporting across multiple countries/zones.

  • Build trusted partnerships with senior stakeholders (Country CFOs, Zone Controllers, Global Process Owners), influencing decision-making and resolving escalations.

  • Drive continuous improvement and transformation-embedding automation, standardisation, and best practices at a zone/cross-zone level, not just within one geography.

  • Balance strategic oversight with operational resilience, ensuring risks are managed, compliance is upheld, and reporting is aligned with global standards.

  • Evaluation Criteria (Targets):

  • Quality & Timeliness at Scale: Ensure zone-level reporting cycles (FCCS & Cognos) close on time with zero business disruption.

  • Governance & Compliance: Sign-off accuracy of reporting and reconciliations, ensuring MICS/SOX compliance.

  • Value Creation: Demonstrate tangible impact through large-scale automation, cross-country standardisation, and process simplification initiatives.

  • Stakeholder Satisfaction: Drive consistent, positive feedback from Zone/Country leadership and Global teams through proactive engagement and transparent communication.

  • Key Dimensions:

  • This role has the key accountability to have accurate figures in Syspro/SAP & Cognos which is the primary reference for other departments/managers to achieve their target (main KPIs of targets can be based on FCCS & Cognos), like cash flow / core working capital. FCCS & Cognos figures are primary inputs for senior management to make their decision therefore, it is very important to accurately reporting FCCS & Cognos figures.

  1. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

  • Level of educational attainment required:

  • Bachelor's degree required (emphasis in Accounting or Finance field)/MBA Finance &

  • Chartered or Cost Accountant (ICAI, ACCA, CPA, ICMAI India or CIMA)

  • Previous work experience required

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience post qualification with large scale manufacturing industry with reporting background.

  • Should have lead & manage a team of 7-10 people

  • Skilled in month end reporting at group level and problem solving

  • Hands on experience on IFRS, IND AS, IGAAP, Africa GAAP or UK GAAP.

  • Must be able to handle multiple legal entities, countries and zone simultaneously

  • Strong communication, follow-up, and organizational skills

  • Strong collaboration & teamwork

  • Language skills required

  • English (Fluent)

  • IT skills required

  • Microsoft Office (mandatory)

  • S4Hana or Oracle (mandatory)

  • Hands on experience HFM or FCCS or Cognos or any other large scale reporting pack (mandatory)

  • Advanced Excel (Pivots, calculated fields, Conditional formatting, charts, dropdown lists etc.)
