Job Title: Manager / Director of Compliance

Location: New York, NY or Atlanta, GA

Role Overview:

ClarityPay is seeking a Manager of Compliance / Director of Compliance to lead our growing compliance program.

As an early hire to our legal and compliance team during an exciting period of rapid growth, this role offers exceptional breadth and variety—ideal for professionals who thrive on diverse, dynamic work rather than narrow specialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead initiatives for the compliance function, leveraging AI to establish the internal compliance and operational risk testing program and managing the company’s compliance reporting functions;

  • Collaborate on initial diligence, ongoing oversight, and periodic testing efforts in relation to third party vendors and merchants;

  • Perform internal compliance reviews of merchant-facing and consumer-facing communications and collateral;

  • Collaborate on the resolution of escalated inquiries and complaints from customers and regulators;

  • Coordinate accurate and timely responses to inquiries from ClarityPay’s regulators and program lenders;

  • Work across the organization to develop and improve key processes and procedures;

  • Recognize and properly escalate significant matters; and

  • Support or own other compliance projects as determined by the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in financial services;

  • Experience working directly with banks and other financial institutions;

  • In-depth familiarity with consumer financial services matters generally;

  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office Suite; and

  • Ability to learn and leverage new technology quickly and effectively.

Bonus Points:

  • Significant experience in the consumer lending industry;

  • Prior experience in fintech lending;

  • Prior experience navigating information security attestations, frameworks, and audits;

  • Experience managing and resolving customer and regulatory complaints;

  • Law degree and/or advanced compliance certification from an established credentialing organization; and

  • Experience working with regulators to quickly and effectively resolve inquiries, complaints, or information requests.

Role Details:

  • Some travel is expected, primarily for audits, corporate gatherings and industry conferences.

  • This role will report to the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.

Salary Range: $115,000 to $150,000 per year.

Salary range is an approximation and will depend on market data applied to factors like the candidate’s skills and experience, geographic location, and compensation/equity mix.
