Position Summary:

The EH&S Manager is a strategic operational leader responsible for advancing Eagle Creek's environmental, health, and safety culture across multiple hydroelectric facilities. The role partners with Operations, Engineering, Dam Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Compliance, Cybersecurity, and executive leadership to proactively identify and reduce risk, improve leading safety indicators, strengthen workforce engagement, and ensure compliance with OSHA, FERC, environmental and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, develop, and manage a team of EH&S Coordinators by establishing clear priorities, providing coaching and performance feedback, fostering professional development, and ensuring consistent execution of Eagle Creek's environmental, health, and safety programs across the portfolio.
  • Lead implementation of company EH&S strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion Human & Organizational Performance (HOP) and Life Critical Risk Management principles.
  • Coach field leadership and build a proactive safety culture through visible leadership and engagement.
  • Develop and maintain EH&S dashboards and KPIs including TRIR, SIIR, Risk Notifications, near misses, observations, corrective actions, training completion, audit findings, and environmental performance.
  • Lead investigations using root cause analysis and verify effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Conduct facility audits and support OSHA, FERC, insurance, and internal compliance reviews.
  • Partner with Environmental Compliance staff to reduce spills, reportable events, and regulatory risk.
  • Develop annual training strategy and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Oversee contractor safety programs and contractor performance.
  • Support enterprise risk management by identifying emerging operational risks and mitigation actions.
  • Prepare executive-level reports and present performance trends and recommendations.
  • Travel (30-50%) throughout the portfolio to coach, audit, and support operations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of progressive EH&S leadership experience in utilities, power generation, industrial manufacturing, construction, or similar industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, incident investigation, auditing, and risk management.
  • Experience leading multi-site safety programs.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, coaching, and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with safety management systems, Power BI, or similar analytics tools preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CUSP, CSP, or ASP preferred.
  • Hydroelectric, utility, FERC experience preferred.

  • Improvement in leading safety indicators and employee engagement.
  • Timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Strong audit performance and regulatory compliance.
  • Trusted partnerships with Operations and Executive Leadership.
