Summary

The role brings project management, business analysis, process improvement, and change-management to how Hachette Book Group onboards and supports our client publishers. This role is the primary point of contact for new clients as they on-board with HGB for sales and distribution services. In addition, this role will work across the full portfolio of HBG change management projects supporting new initiatives that realize efficiency, grow revenue, and drive better outcomes for HBG.

  • Manage cross-functional projects — defining scope, schedules, milestones, status, risks, issues, and dependencies across client onboarding and the larger HBG project portfolio.
  • Lead project initiation, including requirements, scope definition, planning
  • Run client focused on-going governance meetings across all key stakeholders (Sales, Distribution, Client Services, etc)
  • Ensure risks, issues, and dependencies are well understood, managed, and communicated, building a clear cross-functional delivery view across all stakeholders
  • Manage day-to-day delivery across Fulfillment, Sales, IT, Product Management, Client Services; hold stakeholders accountable to agreed plans and deliverables; and manage reporting and status.
  • Map current-state onboarding and ongoing client-management processes end to end. Identify manual effort and bottlenecks; and redesign them
  • Lead process and automation initiatives that will ease client on-boarding and effort
  • Build and maintain the shared playbook for client integration
  • Partner with Product Management and Client Services liaisons to streamline ongoing client management, and coach client project managers and liaisons on the development of FAQs and other tools
  • In support of larger HBG goals, manage cross-functional initiatives across publishing, sales, inventory, production, and other areas.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5–7+ years of experience in publishing, project/program management, business operations, or business transformation.
  • Demonstrated process-improvement experience, mapping, redesigning, and standardizing processes
  • Business and operations literacy
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects or workstreams and to drive outcomes and accountability without direct authority.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Comfortable with data and systems — proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project); familiarity with macros and with Order to Cash or title-management systems a plus.
  • Self-starter with a growth mindset
  • Based in New York. Experience in publishing a plus.
