JOB FUNCTION / SUMMARY:

The Manager, IT Asset Management (ITAM) - Hardware & Software, leads enterprise-wide governance of hardware and software assets across their full lifecycle. This role supervises the ITAM team, implements policies and automation to reduce compliance and financial risk, optimizes total cost of ownership (TCO), and ensures auditable processes for procurement, deployment, maintenance, renewal, and disposition. The manager drives cross-functional collaboration, engages senior stakeholders, oversees vendor negotiations, and delivers executive reporting on asset health, compliance, and financial impact.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

IT Asset Governance, Compliance, and Lifecycle Management

  • Lead and enforce enterprise ITAM and SAM governance, policies, controls, and standards across all hardware and software assets.
  • Own end-to-end asset lifecycle management, ensuring accurate tracking from procurement through deployment, maintenance, renewal, and disposition.
  • Ensure asset data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance across systems and processes.
  • Establish auditable, repeatable lifecycle controls that mitigate financial, contractual, and compliance risk.

Software & Hardware License, Contract, and Financial Management

  • Oversee software licensing and hardware contract management, including entitlement reconciliation, renewals, audits, and compliance activities.
  • Lead vendor and publisher negotiations for licenses, hardware procurement, maintenance, and renewals to optimize cost and contractual terms.
  • Manage ITAM-related budgeting, cost optimization initiatives, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis.
  • Identify and mitigate financial exposure related to licensing, warranties, and contractual obligations.

Tools, Data Integrity, and Systems Integration

  • Lead selection, implementation, and governance of ITAM and SAM tools and supporting technologies.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of asset data across ITAM, CMDB, procurement, finance, and related systems.
  • Drive automation and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce manual effort and improve lifecycle visibility.
  • Establish data governance standards and controls for asset-related systems and integrations.

Leadership, Collaboration, and Executive Reporting

  • Supervise ITAM staff and external resources; provide coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Partner cross-functionally with procurement, finance, legal, security, and IT operations to align asset governance and lifecycle processes.
  • Develop and deliver executive-level reporting on compliance posture, asset health, financial impacts, and ITAM maturity.
  • Serve as the enterprise subject matter leader for IT asset and software asset management.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or related field, and/or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 years of experience in IT or related business roles, including at least 2 years in leadership or management required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodology and ability to draw sound conclusions and recommend optimal actions based on analysis.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to accumulate, organize, and analyze large amounts of information.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills with ability to present complex information in business terms to all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of software asset management principles/practices, licensing models, and compliance risk.
  • Experience with license entitlement/deployment reconciliation and audit response.
  • Proven negotiation experience for license agreements, pricing, hardware procurements, and renewals.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage senior stakeholders, resolve conflicts, and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Experience developing and documenting business processes.
  • IAITAM or CSAM certification preferred.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to travel if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to operate related equipment to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to read and interpret a document if required to perform the essential job functions.
  • Ability to lift/move/carry approximately 10 pounds if required to perform the essential job functions. If the employee is unable to lift/move/carry this weight and can be accommodated without causing the department/division an "undue hardship" then the employee must be accommodated; hence omitting lifting/moving/carrying as a physical requirement.
