Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Manager, Hotel Reporting plays a critical role in driving the accuracy, integrity, and insightfulness of the accounting and reporting for Host's hotel portfolio, including management fees, rental income, hotel expenses, key operating metrics, and related financial compliance matters.

As a key partner to internal stakeholders, the Manager translates complex hotel financial activity into clear, actionable reporting and insights that support business decisions. The role also provides leadership and guidance to accounting staff, drives continuous improvement in reporting processes, and ensures hotel financial results are timely, accurate, and compliant with applicable accounting standards and company policies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the accounting and reporting process for assigned hotels, including revenues, hotel expenses, management fees, rental income, owner distributions, TRS to OP rent, and other key reporting statistics such as REVPAR and EBITDA.
  • Review hotel financial results to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry where applicable, company policies, and related contractual requirements.
  • Oversee the financial compliance of management agreements, REIT lease agreements, and other related agreements, including the review of base and incentive management fees, owner's priority, owner's distributions, and rental payment calculations.
  • Supervise and review cash payments, receipts, journal entries, and balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by accounting staff.
  • Provide coaching, training, and day-to-day guidance to staff accountants; review work product and support employee development.
  • Identify, research, and resolve accounting and reporting issues in coordination with hotel operations, asset management, finance, tax, legal, and other internal departments.
  • Prepare and review ad hoc analysis, reports, and schedules requested by senior management and other departments.
  • Coordinate quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and support the annual corporate financial controls audit.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and documentation of policies, procedures, and process improvements for the hotel accounting and reporting group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • BS in Accounting from an accredited university/college required.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including hotel, real estate, REIT, or public accounting experience.
  • Prior supervisory or team lead experience required.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong technical accounting, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and review detailed financial information accurately.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional partners.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain accounting matters clearly to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Workday experience a plus.
