Job Summary

The Manager of Professional Development for Occupational Health Services (OHS) is responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and evaluating all educational, training, and professional development programs within OHS. This role provides direct supervision of the Float Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and ensures all clinicians and staff maintain the competencies, knowledge, and skills required for safe, high-quality occupational health practice. The manager works collaboratively with educators, clinical leaders, and other stakeholders to create standardized curricula, standing orders, protocols, and SOPs; to assess staff learning needs; and to ensure all programs align with department strategy and regulatory requirements. The role includes one clinical practice day per week to maintain competency, identify opportunities for improvement, and support the integration of clinical insights into training initiatives.Primary Responsibilities:· Design, develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive educational programs, standing orders, protocols, and SOPs for OHS staff.· Conduct learning needs assessments and use findings to guide program development.· Deliver training sessions and workshops on clinical practice, patient care, safety, leadership, technology, and compliance.· Maintain standardized educational resources accessible to all clinicians.· Maintain records of staff training, development activities, competency assessments, and progress.· Oversee onboarding processes and support preceptors and mentors.· Supervise Float Nurse Practitioners, including scheduling, audits, and evaluations.· Staff clinically one day per week to maintain competency and evaluate SOP effectiveness.· Collaborate with OHS leadership and participate in committees and projects.· Perform other duties as assigned.· Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree Health Administration or other related field of study required

  • RN licensure required

  • 2+ years of proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing training programs in a healthcare or hospital setting required

  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience required

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree in related field of study

  • 2+ years of management experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of Occupational Health practice, regulatory requirements, and compliance.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and motivate various audiences.- Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities.- Familiarity with learning management systems and e-learning platforms is desirable.- Analytical skills to evaluate training program effectiveness and measure staff development progress.- A passion for continuous learning and a commitment to staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
