Title: Manager, Field Service Engineering

Position Summary:

The Manager, Field Service engineering has safety, employee, customer satisfaction, and business/financial responsibilities. This position manages the daily activities of the field service engineering group, by taking care of customer needs and managing Service engineers in a manner that makes the Service Department profitable and efficient. This position handles and resolves issues, problems, and complaints. This position must be a resource to customer inquiries.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assign, direct, and evaluate employees' work, and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence
  • Plan, direct and monitor activities of gas and diesel systems commissioning and service project or program to ensure goals are accomplished
  • Oversee operation, maintenance, and repair of systems to ensure that automation systems and equipment are installed and functioning according to RRSA specifications as well as checking component parts to assure conformance or non-conformance with specifications
  • Oversee and coordinate field inspections of failed parts to identify primary causes and reduce future incidents.
  • Provide guidance, technical assistance and feedback to RRSA technicians and systems on customer problems and needs
  • Verify results and quality of engineers' work and implement policies, standards and procedures for the engineering and technical work performed in the group
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, write and update service manuals and bulletins, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information, based on field investigations
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, warranty administration, enforcing rules and administer salaried personnel policies and procedures, assist in preparing budgets, and monitor expenses versus budget on a project basis
  • Provide input regarding timeframe, budget, staffing and other resources necessary for project/program implementation
  • Work with Sr. Management, Finance, and Purchasing to negotiate supplier contracts

Basic Requirements:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology and 5 years of project and personnel management, failure analysis, service engineering or technical service support experience with diesel systems; or 9 years of project and personnel management, failure analysis service engineering or technical service support experience with diesel systems
  • Ability and willingness to travel - domestic and international (Less than 10%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent mechanical or electrical knowledge of Power System's systems and tools, including their designs, controls, uses, repair, and maintenance, including automation solutions and design.
  • Excellent knowledge of the practical application of engineering technology regarding power generation systems
  • Excellent ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
