Job Description

Job Summary:The Manager, Frontend Development role is responsible for leading the people, delivery, and technical direction of the frontend development function. This role focuses on building and supporting a high-performing team that delivers clean, usable, modern user interfaces while establishing strong front-end engineering practices across our platforms.This position provides leadership across React-based feature development, modernization of existing platform interfaces, reusable patterns, modular components, style guides, accessibility practices, testing expectations, and frontend standards. The Manager, Frontend Development works closely with developers, designers, product owners, project managers, engineering leaders, and other stakeholders to align technical execution with product goals, user experience needs, platform direction, and team capacity.As a people leader, this role is expected to coach and develop frontend developers, support hiring and performance management, guide practical technical decisions, remove delivery obstacles, and promote a culture of ownership, collaboration, maintainability, accessibility, and continuous improvement. The Manager, Frontend Development should also model responsible use of AI-powered development tools to improve delivery, support learning, and strengthen team effectiveness while maintaining accountability for quality, security, and technical understanding.

Responsibilities:

Lead, manage, coach, and develop a team of frontend developers responsible for internal- and customer-facing user interfacesOwn frontend delivery planning, prioritization, execution, and quality in partnership with product owners, project managers, designers, and engineering leadersGuide the implementation and modernization of user interface features, tools, and legacy front-end code across supported platformsEstablish, evolve, and promote frontend engineering standards, including style guides, reusable patterns, modular components, code quality expectations, testing practices, and accessibility guidelinesProvide technical leadership on React-based development, frontend architecture, system design decisions, maintainability, performance, scalability, usability, and long-term platform consistencySupport prototyping, solution exploration, and technical feasibility discussions for complex interface problemsEnsure frontend work is delivered with strong attention to visual detail, usability, accessibility, performance, code quality, and maintainabilityFacilitate effective communication of design considerations, trade-offs, risks, limitations, dependencies, and delivery progress to technical and non-technical stakeholdersReview and improve shared development workflows, code review practices, release readiness, testing coverage, and quality assurance expectations for frontend workMentor developers through regular feedback, pairing, code reviews, growth planning, and day-to-day collaborationSupport recruiting, onboarding, performance management, role clarity, and career development for front-end developersPromote responsible use of AI-powered development tools to accelerate delivery, improve problem solving, support learning, and strengthen team effectiveness while maintaining accountability for code quality, security, maintainability, and technical understandingPartner with other development managers and technical leaders to align front-end practices with broader engineering standards and platform strategyOther duties as assigned

Skills And Qualifications:Required

10+ years of production-ready software development experience, with strong experience building and shipping modern user interfaces3+ years of experience leading, managing, or providing formal technical leadership to software developersStrong experience with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or similar; React preferredAdvanced understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript or TypeScript, and modern front-end development practicesStrong ability to lead teams that deliver attractive, usable, accessible, performant, and maintainable user interfacesExperience establishing or improving frontend standards, reusable components, design patterns, testing practices, or shared development practices across a teamAbility to make practical technical decisions that balance delivery needs, maintainability, quality, user experience, and long-term platform directionProven ability to mentor, coach, and develop developers through feedback, code reviews, growth planning, and day-to-day leadershipHighly proficient with version control using Git and experienced with collaborative development workflowsStrong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with developers, designers, product owners, project managers, senior leaders, and cross-functional partnersAbility to manage priorities, clarify expectations, remove obstacles, and support successful delivery across multiple initiatives

Preferred

Experience managing frontend developers in a product, platform, or enterprise software environmentExperience with design systems, reusable component libraries, or shared UI standards across multiple teams or productsKnowledge of accessible UX best practices and experience embedding accessibility into planning, development, testing, and review processesExperience with GitHubExperience with or knowledge of server-side rendered front-end applicationsExposure to older JavaScript frameworks such as MooTools or jQueryFamiliarity with server-side NodeJS or other languages like C#, PHP, or similarFamiliarity with SQL, MySQL, or related database technologiesExperience applying AI-powered development tools responsibly within team workflows, development practices, or engineering productivity initiatives

Compensation:Compensation Range: $140,000 - $150,000Actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on a number of variables including work experience, education and skills/ achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer. This position is not eligible for a variable pay component as part of the hiring range.
