Manager, Plant Design Oversight
TerraPower, LLC. is seeking a highly motivated Manager for the Plant Design Oversight (PDO) group on TerraPower's Natrium advanced nuclear reactor projects. In this role, you will be the line manager for full-time employees and the technical representative for contractors across the PDO group. The PDO group consists of three teams: the building integration team, the plant layout team, and the seismic integration team. This role will provide daily support and oversight to the three teams as they progress in their daily work as well as support group and department activities for current schedule and work and future planning. Work of the group spans across the areas of civil/structural/architectural, geology & hydrology, plant layout & 3D model oversight, and seismic integration for the Nuclear Island (NI), Energy Island (EI), and Balance of Plant (BoP) scope of work. Additionally in this role you will be interface with construction teams as needed during construction. Candidates must have extensive experience with project management, multi-discipline coordination, and scheduling and planning activities.
This role will report to the EPC Plant Design Oversight Senior Manager.
Responsibilities
- Line Manager for all full-time employees and technical representative for all contractors within the PDO group.
- Interface with EPC Delivery Department PM for risk management
- Engage in EPC schedule and budget oversight and planning activities
- Assist with department schedule, budget, and staffing discussions
- Support integration and decomposition of plant level requirements to the appropriate system level within the oversight area
- Assure internal work and partner deliverables are adhering to applicable processes and procedures as well as complying with Natrium's licensing basis
- Support management with reporting of starts and finishes across the group
- Support team leaders in their oversight and integration functions
- Support monitoring and appraisal of design organizations, partners, contractors, and subcontractors' performance to ensure that all technical requirements for the design are effectively and correctly implemented and processes are followed
- Support design and integration reviews and resolution of cross functional technical issues
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Education: B.S. degree in Civil/Structural engineering or equivalent or higher
- 10+ years of project experience on large, complex projects
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and with minimum direction to solve challenging problems
- Candidate must have strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Candidate must be a self-starter and possess ability to coordinate with internal and external engineering and construction teams with minimal direction
- Experience with plant layout for nuclear power plant projects
- Experience with commercial codes and standards such as IBC, ACI 318, AISC 360 and ASCE 7
- Experience with nuclear codes and standards such as ACI 349, ACI 359, AISC N690, ASCE 4, and ASCE 43
- Experience working projects with NRC or DOE regulations
- Ability to deliver projects that include many competing objectives and design constraints, with ability to resolve conflicts between objectives.
- Ability to work on tasks that require a multi-disciplinary approach.
- Experience working to quality standards on design activities, such as ASME NQA-1 or ISO 9001.
- The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork

Salary Range Level 12: $168,316 - $252,475
Salary Range Level 13: $196,537 - $294,806
Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected candidate's qualifications and experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
