Job Description

Join us in driving the next generation of product innovation within Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting. As the Manager, Product Software Engineering, you'll lead a team of managers and engineering professionals who design, build, and deliver the core software operating systems that power our products. This role goes far beyond coordinating development work-you'll help shape scalable architectures, inspire modern engineering practices, and guide the evolution of our end‑to‑end software ecosystem.

You'll oversee the creation of intelligent testing strategies, champion automation, and ensure our teams prioritize the most impactful initiatives. You'll also adapt engineering plans to meet shifting business needs, solve complex resourcing challenges, and refine operational processes to accelerate delivery.

If you're energized by transforming technical roadmaps into high‑performing, execution‑ready teams-and you want to lead the engineering vision behind industry‑defining products-we'd love to have you on the team.

Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a sizable team of software engineers and engineering managers, fostering a positive, inclusive, and high‑performance culture.
  • Provide hands-on leadership for solving complex technical and operational challenges.
  • Develop talent through coaching, goal-setting, and individualized growth planning.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and guide improvement plans where needed.

Technical & Operational Execution

  • Oversee the design, development, testing, and delivery of software product components.
  • Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, quality standards, and architectural principles.
  • Guide teams through difficult engineering decisions and trade-offs.
  • Monitor development processes, framework adoption, and engineering discipline across teams.
  • Drive automation, CI/CD pipeline adoption, cloud-native engineering, and DevOps best practices.

Planning, Prioritization & Resource Management

  • Manage workloads, project timelines, and resource allocation across teams.
  • Estimate project resource needs and ensure proper staffing for delivery commitments.
  • Adapt team plans and priorities in response to operational changes or business objectives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with product management, UX, architecture, QA, and infrastructure teams to ensure alignment on requirements, technical strategy, and delivery timelines.
  • Communicate effectively in a matrixed environment with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Support seamless integration across systems and successful product launches.

Quality, Process & Performance

  • Oversee engineering quality assurance processes and ensure high-quality code and product outcomes.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs, engineering metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards, governance policies, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in product software engineering.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and driving software delivery at scale.
  • Strong background in cloud computing (Azure Preferred), APIs, and modern development practices.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automation.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to lead in a matrixed environment.
