Job Description
A 285-bed Level II Trauma Center in Independence, Missouri is seeking a Manager of Emergency Room RNs. The hospital operates a 24/7 emergency department, an accredited Chest Pain Center, a Level III NICU, a Stroke Center, and an accredited Cancer Program and Breast Center, supported by a full range of surgical and outpatient services.The role. The Emergency Department Clinical Manager provides direct leadership and day-to-day management of the ED, serving as both a clinical resource and a professional role model for nursing staff. This position acts as a liaison with the medical staff and integrates the department's services with broader hospital operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and sound fiscal stewardship within established budget parameters. The manager develops, implements, and evaluates department policies and procedures that define scope of service and guide care delivery. Workforce responsibilities span the full employment lifecycle recruiting qualified staff, overseeing orientation and continuing education, conducting annual performance evaluations, and managing disciplinary processes through to termination when necessary. The manager also ensures staff receive timely updates on department and hospital-level changes, maintaining a well-informed and cohesive team.What we're looking for.
- Associate Degree in Nursing or Registered Nurse Diploma
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ED Charge RN experience (within the last year)
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date
- Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date
