Job Description

Summary

The Manger of Planning Design and Construction (PDC) supports Concord Hospital's Facilities programming, space planning, design, estimation and budgeting, and Construction Management of all Capital and renovation projects. This position works in close collaboration with all levels of clinical and administrative staff, contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and municipal and state regulatory agencies under the direction of the Admin Director and Executive leadership.

The PDC Manager leads and directs the projects team. The manager provides guidance and oversight on the project portfolio consisting of multiple projects of moderate to high complexity for both inpatient and outpatient locations for Concord Hospital Heath System. They work closely with sponsors and subject matter experts to develop and deploy implementation plans and other project tools, establish metrics and improvement targets, drive projects to completion, and monitor effectiveness of solutions. They manage resources within each project's triple constraints of scope, schedule, and budget.

Responsible for the coordination and implementation of physical plant upgrades and renovations, new and expanded facilities, and move/occupancy with an emphasis on superior client service through project planning, scope development, coordination amongst stakeholders, and tracking schedule and budget. Provides project planning and facilitates design, construction, moves, and necessary project notifications and communication. Works collaboratively with direct reports, peers, consultants, contractors, affected departments, facility operations, and end users to efficiently deliver a quality, on time, and cost effective project. All forms of communication assure that end users and affected parties are aware of project deliverables, activities, schedules, milestone dates, and potential disruptions.

Education

Bachelors degree in Business, Architecture, Project Management, Construction Administration, or Engineering.

Certification, Registration & Licensure

Licensure required: Valid New Hampshire Driver's license. Driving record from Department of Motor Vehicles, and proof of insurance coverage, which complies with organization and departmental Driving Policy.

Experience

Minimum five years' experience in management of design and construction projects, preferably in the healthcare setting, involving multiple professional disciplines. Experience reviewing blueprints, managing building information modeling (BIM) and understanding mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems required. Working knowledge of budgets, schedules, and coordination of various stakeholders throughout the design, construction, and move/occupancy process. Understanding and working knowledge of the FGI guidelines, ADA, and local codes. Excellent oral and written communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, retains, and develops staff and supervises performance.

  • Participates in establishing and monitoring annual department productivity, quality, fiscal goals, and staffing.

  • Develops and improves departmental core processes.

  • Responsible for customer relations and customer service initiatives.

  • Acts as a conduit for department and organizational communication among staff and others, such as Jurisdiction Authorities.

  • Leads department and interdepartmental teams.

  • Participates in and supports departmental and organizational change.

  • Ensures compliance with State, Local, and Federal regulatory requirements, to include NFPA and ADA requirements.

  • Takes responsibility for individual performance goals.

  • Meet all departmental, professional, and technical requirements.

  • Maintaining and enforcing design standards, project feasibility studies, and project programming.

  • Manage all aspect of Facilities Project Management: RFI's, addendums, design, project planning, certificate of occupancy, and DHSS preparedness.

  • Management of physical and electrical plans, including life safety plan updates.

  • Develop design concepts and schematic drawings.

  • Provides feedback to RFIs, sketches, and addendums.

  • Manage the Concord Hospital Book of Facility Standards.

  • Continuously improve departmental processes and standard work.
