Job Description

Job Summary

The Materials & Logistics Specialist is responsible for supporting daily warehouse and inventory operations to ensure accurate receipt, storage, movement, and shipment of materials and products. This position plays a critical role in maintaining inventory accuracy, supporting production through work order kitting, and ensuring timely shipping and receiving activities. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  1. Receive incoming materials, verify quantities and condition of shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
  2. Perform shipping functions including packaging, labeling, documentation, and coordination with carriers.
  3. Maintain accurate inventory records through inventory control systems and physical inventory counts.
  4. Conduct cycle counts, periodic physical inventories, and inventory reconciliation activities.
  5. Pull, stage, and kit materials for production work orders to support manufacturing schedules.
  6. Ensure proper storage, identification, and handling of inventory and materials.
  7. Track and document material movement transactions in ERP/MRP or inventory management systems.
  8. Support material replenishment activities and monitor stock levels.
  9. Coordinate with purchasing, production, quality, and program teams to resolve material discrepancies.
  10. Maintain warehouse organization, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards.
  11. Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as required.
  12. Assist with receiving inspections and non-conforming material segregation when necessary.
  13. Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and inventory control processes.
  14. Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse and inventory operations.
  15. Wholly maintain inventory of material.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, and inventory control:
    1. 1-4 years
    2. 5-10 years
    3. 11-16 years
    4. 17-25 years
  • Experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or production environment preferred.
  • Experience transacting receipts, issuances, and transfers in an ERP/MRP Inventory Management system such as SAP or Deltek Costpoint.
  • Ability to read pick lists, work orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and inventory reports.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification preferred.

Equipment/Software/Tools Used

  • Computer, copier/printer/fax machine, filing cabinets, label maker and scanner.
  • Basic computer operating system (Windows); Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint).  Costpoint ERP software. Jira & Vault a plus.
