Job Overview:
Seeking a hands-on and versatile Manufacturing Engineer with a strong electrical engineering background to support New Product Introduction (NPI) and provide technical leadership across the product lifecycle. This role bridges the gap between electrical design and production, ensuring that manufacturing and test processes for electronic and electro-mechanical systems are robust, scalable, and aligned with product requirements.
The ideal candidate will have experience with PCBA design interpretation, electrical test development, and production support, and will collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve technical challenges.
Minimum Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in electronics, PCBA, or electro-mechanical systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering with strong electrical experience
- Strong understanding of NPI processes, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Test (DFT) principles
- Proficiency in interpreting schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and BOMs
- Experience with electrical test development, including fixtures, instrumentation, and data acquisition
- Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and signal generators
- Proficiency with CAD/ECAD tools (e.g., Altium, OrCAD) and PDM/PLM systems
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and PCBA suppliers
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred Requirements
- Knowledge of IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC-2221)
- Experience with automated test systems (ATE), LabVIEW, or similar software
- Hands-on experience with soldering, rework, and electronics troubleshooting
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC compliance testing
- Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement training
Responsibilities:
New Product Introduction (NPI):
- Collaborate with R&D, electrical design, and supply chain teams to transition products from development to production
- Develop and validate manufacturing and electrical test processes, including fixtures and test stations
- Participate in design reviews with a focus on DFM and DFT
- Support prototype builds, pilot, runs, and production ramp-up
Technical Data Package (TDP) Support:
- Interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, BOMs, and specifications
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for electrical documentation
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and production-ready
Process & Test Engineering:
- Define and optimize electrical assembly, integration, and test processes
- Design and implement functional test systems and automated test equipment (ATE)
- Troubleshoot failures and perform root cause analysis
- Drive improvements in yield, reliability, and test coverage
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work with engineering, procurement, quality, and supplier teams to ensure alignment
- Support supplier qualification and onboarding
- Provide technical guidance and training on electrical assembly and testing
- Ensure manufacturability, testability, and compliance of new products
