Job Description

MUST BE A JUNIOR OR SENIOR STUDENT TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE POSITION

Nature and Scope:

Sun Hydraulics, LLC in Sarasota, FL has paid Manufacturing Engineering internship opportunities available for Summer. We generally try to fill the summer openings by spring break. Students are offered an introductory hydraulics class. The internship offers the opportunity to see not only how the different engineering classes are applied in a manufacturing and engineering business. Toward the end of the internship, we ask interns to give group presentations suggesting improvements that they may have identified during the defined project.

Qualifications:

Hands on, self-motivated students from mechanical, mechatronic, mechanical engineering technology, agriculture, electrical/electronic, and industrial engineering related programs are encouraged to apply. Undergraduate and graduate students that have had fluid power or hydraulics course work are especially encouraged to apply. Previous internship experience in a manufacturing environment is useful, but not necessary. Our preference is for students who have an interest in an engineering career working in Florida.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting manufacturing operations by process improvement, fixture and jig design, and overall operational improvement tasks related to the manufacturing floor.
  • Perform time studies and measurement data collection to aid in process capability and process improvements
  • Designing fixtures, jigs or workstations to make operator tasks more ergonomically friendly
  • Working alongside product engineering to troubleshoot problems with failures at end of line test and assist in improvements in First Pass Yield
  • Creating work instructions to outline the correct way to perform manufacturing related tasks

The three-month, summer internship is the beginning step toward future employment at Sun Hydraulics after graduating from an engineering program.
