Job Description

CARFAIR – MANUFACTURING MANAGER (GILLETT) Carfair Composites is a leader in fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) design and composites technology and has dedicated team members located in facilities between Winnipeg, MB (Canada), St. Cloud, MN (USA), and Anniston, AL (USA), Wausaukee, WI (USA) and Gillett, WI (USA).POSITION SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for planning production schedules and overseeing manufacturing activities in pursuance of business goals. Includes development of policies and procedures designed to increase productivity, assure quality, and mitigate production problems. To this end, the Manufacturing Manager will improve throughput and other in-house processes with the objective of reducing overall costs and enhancing customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Provide strategic leadership in developing, directing, and improving manufacturing and plant initiatives across all company product lines.
  • Manage long-term manufacturing strategies and oversee the implementation of production systems throughout the organization.
  • Develop, evaluate, and implement manufacturing business system improvements using measurable performance metrics and scoring systems.
  • Establish repeatable operational metrics to monitor and improve manufacturing and production performance.
  • Support new product development and continuous improvement initiatives through the integration of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other process improvement methodologies.
  • Train and support production employees in problem-solving techniques and real-time production troubleshooting.
  • Analyze and determine optimal manufacturing processes, production methods, and raw material utilization to maximize efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance and Engineering teams to resolve quality concerns and evaluate overall manufacturing quality performance.
  • Lead, manage, and develop manufacturing personnel, including production staff and line workers, while recommending appropriate staffing levels and scheduling plans.
  • Collaborate in the selection, justification, purchase, installation, and startup of capital equipment and manufacturing systems.
  • Improve production standards through time studies, workflow analysis, and standard data development techniques.
  • Identify and implement waste reduction and productivity improvement opportunities throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Design and optimize plant layouts and process flows to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Prepare cost analyses and operational reports for senior leadership and plant management.
  • Develop, maintain, and update manufacturing procedures, production documentation, and operational records.
  • Promote a culture of quality by encouraging employees to adopt and integrate quality standards and methodologies into daily operations.
  • Identify employee training needs and coordinate development opportunities to support operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international regulations, standards, and legislation.
  • Maintain accountability for Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, regulatory requirements, and organizational programs related to quality, environmental compliance, health, and safety.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Post-secondary education or an equivalent combination of education and related manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing production systems, processes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing methodologies, process improvement, and quality systems.
  • Experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies, and control plans preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, QS-9000, and ISO 9000 standards.
  • Strong inventory and production management skills with the ability to communicate effectively across vendors, customers, and internal teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and develop technical documentation, metrics, and audit processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and standard business technology tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership, negotiation, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills with a positive team-oriented attitude.
