Job Description

A global automotive and industrial components manufacturer is adding an Operations Trainer at one of its U.S. production facilities. This is a newly prioritized role sitting between HR and the plant floor, and it exists because the site is scaling and needs training to stop being something supervisors squeeze in between shifts.

You will be the person who takes a new hire from day one to fully qualified on the line — and the person the plant leans on when a process changes and forty people need to be retrained on it correctly, quickly, and with a record to prove it.

It is a hands-on job with a real systems component. You will spend part of your week on the floor in PPE demonstrating standard work, and part of it building the materials, tracking the matrix, and reporting completion and effectiveness data up to leadership. People who only want to present, or only want to sit in the training records, tend not to enjoy this one.

What you’ll own

  •        Build and deliver hands-on training for new hires, production associates, and team leaders.Train to standard work — manufacturing processes, quality requirements, equipment operation, and safety procedures.
  •        Create the materials yourself: visual work instructions, presentations, and digital learning content.Own the training matrix — certifications, qualification records, and completion tracking inside the ERP.
  •        Run onboarding and cross-training so the plant can flex coverage across lines and shifts.Partner with production, quality, engineering, and maintenance to find training gaps before they show up as defects.
  •        Coach in real time during training periods and give leadership a straight read on who is ready and who is not.Support root cause analysis and corrective actions where training is a contributing factor.
  •        Keep training activity compliant with OSHA, customer requirements, and applicable IATF / ISO standards.

    Requirements

    What you need

3+ years in a manufacturing or production environment, including training, lead, or supervisory responsibility.
  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing, industrial technology, operations management, business, HR, or a related field. Strong Excel and PowerPoint — you will be building materials and tracking data, not just delivering content.
  • Hands-on ERP / MRP experience, SAP strongly preferred, including maintaining electronic training records. The ability to move between an office and an active production floor, and to train people at different experience levels.

    Nice to have

  •        Lean or continuous improvement exposure — standardized work, 5S, kaizen.Experience authoring work instructions or building digital learning content.
  •        Familiarity with IATF 16949 or ISO quality systems.Root cause and corrective action methodology (5-Why, fishbone, 8D).

If you have trained people on a production floor and you are strong on the systems side, apply. You do not need to check every box on this list.

    Benefits

    • Health Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)
    • Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)
    • Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)
    • Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)
    • Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
    • Short Term & Long Term Disability
    • Compensation: $25-31/hour target
