Job Description
Our organization is searching for a Marine Welder / Fabricator. Our ideal candidate is responsible for layout, fabrication, fitting, and welding of components for vessels at all stages of refit and repair. Work will be performed in the metal shop, onboard dry-docked vessels, dockside vessels in service, and occasionally on facility projects. This role requires proficiency in TIG, MIG, and MMA welding across multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead) and the ability to fabricate with precision, style, and in compliance with classification standards. The position reports directly to the Metal & Pipefitting Shop Supervisor,
Key Responsibilities
- Perform layout, fabrication, fitting, and welding of vessel components.
- Prepare materials for fabrication (layout, sawing, punching, drilling, coping).
- Cut and weld various metals using FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW processes.
- Operate welding and metalworking equipment: grinders, drills, sanders, TIG/MIG machines, electrode welders, torches, saws, and presses.
- Work with steel, aluminum, and stainless steel to meet specifications and tolerances.
- Construct jigs, templates, and tooling for projects.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and safety/maintenance manuals.
- Perform quality checks and ensure work meets schedule, budget, and classification standards.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members on vessel repair and fabrication tasks.
- Follow OSHA and company safety rules, ensuring a clean and safe work area.
- Occasionally perform yacht systems repairs outside of welding/fabrication.
Requirements
Education & Certifications
- HONORABLE DISCHARGE FROM THE MILITARY.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- AWS certification or advanced marine repair coursework preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of 24 months marine welding/fabrication experience (yacht or ship repair facility preferred).
- Equivalent welding/fabrication experience considered.
- Welding test required during interview process.
Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in TIG, MIG, and MMA welding in multiple positions.
- Strong metal fabrication and pipefitting skills.
- Ability to read/interpret technical documents and schematics.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and physical condition.
- Ability to lift and manipulate large metal pieces and work in confined spaces.
- Knowledge of yacht/ship terminology (port/starboard, bow/stern, etc.).
- Own full complement of hand tools (slag hammer, punch, wrenches, welding hood, etc.).
- Must pass drug test and background check.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, crouch, kneel, and climb.
- Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in hot/cold environments.
- Stand, walk, and move equipment/tools for extended periods.
- Exposure to noise, hazards, and environmental conditions typical of shipyard work
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting pay: up to $30/hour, depending on experience.

- 401K and Profit Sharing eligibility after 12 months.
- Paid time off / vacation days.
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week (overtime and weekends as needed).
