Job Description
Global Financial Firm located in Jersey City, NJ has an immediate contract opportunity for an experienced Market Risk Developer (Java/Python+ Spark). Pay Rate: $84.00 - $89.00 per hour
- Work Mode: Hybrid
- Location: Jersey City, NJ
Responsibilities:
- Engage in hands-on development while leading the technical design and implementation of key components of the Market Risk platform.
- Communicate with product leads to discuss opportunities for improving existing and future technology solutions.
- Implement scalable and high-performance computing solutions for computing market risk and providing analysis capabilities.
- Implement containerized deployment and integrate with modern data platforms such as Snowflake for cloud-based data processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and global counterparts to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Optimize risk data processing pipelines to improve efficiency and response time.
- Partner with Risk, Model Governance, and Compliance stakeholders to ensure regulatory requirements are accurately implemented in market risk technology.
- Work in an Agile development environment, ensuring timely and efficient product delivery.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers in the squad.
Requirements:
- Expert-level knowledge of core Java concepts and frameworks such as Spring Boot and Microservices, with a strong understanding of OOPs concepts and design patterns.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark (with Java).
- Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design patterns.
- Extensive development expertise in building high-scaled and performant software platforms for data computation and processing.
- Knowledge of containerized deployments and cloud-native architecture.
- Familiarity with Agile software development and DevOps best practices.
- Experience with caching solutions like Pinot, Redis, etc.
- Experience with relational and/or document-oriented databases.
- Strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and scripting.
- Ability to translate business and analytical requirements into efficient technical solutions.
- Ability to guide junior staff, influence technical direction, and manage multiple initiatives in parallel.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience building large-scale, production-grade systems, with demonstrated depth in Java-based backend development and distributed system design.
- Background in financial services, especially within Market Risk or FinTech.

- Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and drive projects independently.
- Ability to align technology with business goals and regulatory needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
