Job Description
The Market VP of Patient Safety is a senior leadership role based in Asheville, NC, serving a 853-bed Magnet®-designated regional tertiary and quaternary care center that is the region's only Level I trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, Level III NICU, and children's hospital. The broader system spans six acute care hospitals, an inpatient rehabilitation hospital, and a post-acute care division totaling 1, 219 licensed beds across Western North Carolina.The role. Reporting at the market level, this executive position leads patient safety and risk management strategy across a multi-facility system. The VP is accountable for advancing safety culture, identifying and mitigating patient safety risks, and driving measurable reductions in avoidable harm through systems thinking and reliable design principles. Additional focus areas include risk management and claims activities, regulatory readiness aligned with CMS Conditions of Participation and applicable state healthcare agencies, and oversight of the annual Patient Safety Program. The role also shapes patient safety education initiatives and leads process improvement and outcomes management efforts system-wide.What we're looking for.
- Bachelor's degree in a clinically related field, preferably from a registered nurse background
- Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MSN, or related field) preferred
- 4+ years of recent leadership experience in a clinical and quality improvement-related role
- Previous experience within a multi-facility environment preferred
- Active clinical licensure, preferably RN
- Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS)
