Job Description

Vedder's Chicago office is seeking a Marketing & Client Development Coordinator. The Marketing & Client Development Coordinator (M&CD Coordinator) works under the supervision of a Marketing & Client Development Manager (M&CD Manager). This position is responsible for supporting a wide range of marketing and business development activities for all practice groups across the firm, and works closely with the Marketing & Client Development team and the marketing department at large. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a strong communicator and comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. This position requires a balance of independent initiative and collaborative team work.

As a Marketing & Client Development Coordinator, your job duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Drafts and produces marketing proposals and RFP responses using a mix of the proposal repository and new content development, final document preparation and follow-up
  • Edits, maintains and updates practice-specific pages of the firm website, as well as marketing collateral and attorney bios; drafts, reviews and contributes to key messaging and content of brochures and other collateral materials
  • Maintains current and accurate case lists, descriptions, case studies and client lists for use in pitches, proposals, RFPs, including league table rankings as necessary
  • Provides research support for various initiatives utilizing research subscriptions and databases. Prepares submissions to legal directories such as Chambers and Legal 500
  • Drafts internal and external communications and assists with posting on our website and through our social media channels as needed
  • Utilizes firm resources to complete administrative tasks
  • Supports the events team with seminars and other event-related activities, including materials preparation, set up and onsite support as needed
  • Assists with special projects as assigned

Skills & Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of the marketing department and its overall purpose and objectives, and the ability to complete moderately complex assignments independently
  • Ability to set day-to-day priorities based on incoming requests and overall objectives of the firm and the requesting party, as well as to anticipate issues and opportunities and address them with little or no supervision
  • Ability to identify and effectively use data, experience and judgment to formulate realistic and sound points of view and effectively communicate the same to team members and attorneys
  • Must be a self-starter who thrives on juggling numerous projects on tight deadlines, is capable of working in a fast-paced environment and has excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, in oral and written form, with people at all levels within the firm and externally

Qualifications & Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of marketing, business development or proposal experience,  preferably in a professional services company or law firm. Legal marketing experience is preferred.
  • Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in the following software:

  • Successful candidates will have strong-to-advanced technological skills in the Microsoft suite of products as well as with applications specific to the legal industry. Working knowledge of WordPress, InTapp, Capital IQ, Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters Monitor Suite a plus.

Compensation Range: $60,000/yr. to $70,000/yr
