Job Description
- Must be knowledgeable of the National Historic Preservation Briefs.
- Experience with Jahn mortar and lime mortars preferred.
- Attention to detail is of the highest priority.
- Must have above average skill in laying masonry units including bricks, block, stone, and other masonry units as needed.
- Participating in and collaborating with the crew during daily meetings to ensure safety, quality and productivity goals are set.
- Ensure proper installation of wall ties, flashings and other masonry accessories necessary for job specific standards.
- Layout projects for building locations and site work and verify field dimensions when necessary.
- Shape brick, block, or stone in preparation for final setting with use of chisels and/or power saws.
- Responsible for providing a uniform appearance in the finished product. Complete all tasks with pride of ownership and quality.
- Comprehensive knowledge of historic masonry applications including building leads, arches, and columns as well as other required architectural details.
- Other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
- Must be able to follow instructions precisely, and work with others in an organized manner.
- Required to provide own masonry tools.
- Keep job site safe and clean.
- Work in high, precarious places such as scaffolding and ladders.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel in a repetitive motion; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, including working on hands and knees for extended periods of time.
- Work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold.
- Follows all company standards based on the employee handbook, drug & alcohol policy, and safety handbooks.
- This role is based out of Lewistown, MT office, but travel to projects will be required with this position. Either positioned at the out-of-town project for the duration, or travel on a regular basis will be required. Work related travel expenses are covered by the Company.
- Five plus years of past performance in historic restoration field work experience required.
- Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors and the public always.
- Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
- Confident in English and Spanish languages.
- Clean criminal background as we work on secure state and federal facilities.
- Must be able to read and understand project documents such as plans and specifications.
- OSHA training.
