The Material Quality and Supplier Management Engineer will be part of a global cross-functional team and will develop strong technical partnerships with suppliers to ensure material requirements are clearly defined, understood, and consistently met. Using statistical and analytical methods, this role evaluates raw materials and supplier processes to reduce risk to manufacturing operations and customer.

When material quality issues arise, the engineer will serve as a technical leader in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. This role is responsible for driving supplier accountability and ensuring corrective actions are effective and sustainable. The position requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders including R&D, Analytical Sciences, Process Development, Quality Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineers.

Core responsibilities:

  • Establish, document, and maintain quality requirements and specifications for raw materials used in production.

  • Define and maintain critical process control parameters for supplier manufacturing processes in collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.

  • Qualify new raw materials and suppliers through audits, data review, testing, and on-site evaluations.

  • Lead material-related investigations, including root cause analysis and supplier corrective action follow-up.

  • Use statistical methods to analyze material performance, process capability, and risk.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support new product introductions and process changes.

  • Ensure raw material supply strategies align with global business and manufacturing objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives with a strong bias for action and results.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 5+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment

  • Or Master's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with 2+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment

  • Other science or engineering disciplines may be considered with relevant chemical manufacturing experience.

  • Strong understanding of statistical methods, including DOE, control charts, Gage R&R, and ANOVA.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Preferred:

  • Experience using statistical software such as JMP or Minitab.

  • Knowledge of semiconductor and advanced packaging manufacturing processes.

  • Experience working directly with external suppliers and conducting audits

This position is designated as a hybrid role; however, due to the hands-on nature of materials qualification and manufacturing support, regular on-site presence is expected. A successful candidate will be comfortable working directly with manufacturing and laboratory environments and collaborating in person.
