Job Title: Materials Engineer

Working Pattern: Full Time

Working location: Indianapolis, IN.

As a Materials Engineer you will provide knowledge and expertise and execute tasks on the development of materials, processes, models and analysis methods, the application of materials to the design, test, manufacture, and service operation of systems, the approval, validation and control of raw materials and / or component manufacturing processes, and the execution of failure or defect investigations. You will provide knowledge, expertise and guidance in chemistry and/or corrosion disciplines deployed in the support of the full product life cycle.

What you will be doing

  • Manage and deliver complex materials development programs through the gated review processes.
  • Effectively engage with engineers from all disciplines to understand material development requirements
  • Scope, develop and manage test programs to demonstrate and validate a wide variety of material properties
  • Manage materials development programs to meet cost, quality and delivery commitments
  • Analyze and interpret data from material property testing
  • A key contributor to development and validation of materials and components for LibertyWorks R&T programs.

Who we're looking for:

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Materials or Chemistry with at least two years of hands on experience; OR
  • Master's or PhD in Engineering, Materials or Chemistry
  • Must be a US Citizen and be eligible to obtain DoD clearance

Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of polymer matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites and ceramic coatings
  • Knowledge of sol-gel based processes
  • Experience with developing or using process models for chemical processes
  • Ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems
  • Practical knowledge and use of advanced analytical techniques
  • Understanding and use of manufacturing techniques for polymer matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites and ceramic coatings would also be beneficial.
