Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Heavy Equipment & Fleet Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment, including tractor-trailers, construction equipment, hydraulic systems, and diesel-powered machinery. This role requires strong mechanical knowledge, troubleshooting abilities, and experience using hand tools and welding equipment.
The Mechanic plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our fleet and equipment operations.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, and construction machinery
- Perform preventative maintenance and routine service inspections
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, air brake systems, electrical components, and diesel engines
- Conduct repairs on tractor-trailers and other fleet vehicles
- Fabricate and modify parts as needed using welding and fabrication equipment
- Safely operate heavy equipment during inspections and repairs
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and parts usage
- Work closely with operators and management to minimize equipment downtime
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company safety standards and OSHA regulations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or Heavy Equipment Mechanic
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, air brake systems, diesel engines, and mechanical repair procedures
- Experience working on heavy equipment, trailers, and construction machinery preferred
- Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding/fabrication tools
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical issues efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Valid Driver’s License preferred
- CDL License preferred
- Mechanical certifications are a plus
