We offer benefits, paid time off, paid holidays and 401k after a probationary time.Position Details:Position Type: Full-Time Contract, with project completion expected end of 2026Job Location: New Johnsonville, TN (per diem available)Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Holidays, etc...Compensation: $60.00 - $80.00/hr depending upon experience and qualifications Drug and background screenings requiredSite Profile: Our client is a chemical manufacture that produces pigments used in coatings, plastics, and other industrial and consumer applicationsOverview: Serve as the owner's mechanical quality representative responsible for overseeing contractor installations and ensuring mechanical, piping, welding, and equipment installations comply with project specifications, applicable codes, and established quality standards.The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Oversee mechanical and piping construction activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and quality standards.
- Inspect contractor installations involving piping systems, mechanical equipment, structural supports, valves, pressure components, and associated mechanical systems.
- Verify that contractors are following approved installation procedures, inspection plans, and quality control requirements.
- Review mechanical and piping installations for compliance with engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, specifications, and applicable industry codes and standards.
- Monitor welding, fabrication, bolting, alignment, and equipment installation activities to ensure workmanship meets project quality requirements.
- Identify, document, and communicate quality deficiencies, non-conformances, and corrective actions to contractors and project management.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction management, operations, and contractors to resolve field quality issues and support project execution.
- Witness inspections, pressure testing, equipment installation, mechanical completion, and turnover activities as required.
- Maintain accurate inspection reports, quality documentation, punch lists, and daily field reports.
- Promote safe work practices while supporting project schedules and construction milestones.
- Monitor subcontractor quality activities and verify compliance with the project's quality program and owner expectations.
- Support implementation and enforcement of project quality standards throughout all phases of construction .
Required qualifications for this role:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Mechanical/Piping QA/QC role supporting industrial capital construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing quality for mechanical equipment, piping systems, structural supports, welding, and pressure-containing systems.
- Strong knowledge of industrial construction practices, mechanical installation methods, and quality control procedures.
- Experience reviewing mechanical drawings, piping isometrics, P&IDs, equipment drawings, specifications, and applicable construction standards.
- Proven ability to inspect contractor work and ensure compliance with project specifications, quality requirements, and applicable industry codes.
- Experience identifying, documenting, and resolving quality deficiencies, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Working knowledge of ASME, API, AWS, and other applicable mechanical and piping codes and standards.
- Strong understanding of welding, fabrication, equipment installation, bolted connections, hydrostatic testing, and mechanical completion activities.
- Experience coordinating with engineering, construction management, operations, and contractors to resolve field quality issues.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and electronic quality documentation systems.
- Ability to work full-time in an active industrial construction environment, including frequent walking, climbing stairs, and navigating construction sites .
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current certification as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager (CQM), or other equivalent owner-approved quality certification.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience supporting chemical, petrochemical, refining, power generation, or other heavy industrial facilities.
- Previous experience implementing or supporting project quality programs and overseeing subcontractor quality activities.
- Experience witnessing hydrostatic testing, mechanical completion, equipment alignment, and system turnover activities.
