Mechanical Design Engineer

Exact Staff is hiring for our client, a globally recognized manufacturer with over 50 years of experience designing and building aerospace autoclave systems. This Mechanical Design Engineer role is a high-impact opportunity to work on complex, production-quality pressure vessel systems supporting domestic and international aerospace projects. We are seeking a technically strong and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with at least 4 years of hands-on design experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative engineering environment while also being able to manage projects independently and deliver code-compliant, fabrication-ready designs. Location: Compton, CA 90220 Schedule: Monday – Friday | 8:30am – 5:30pm Pay: $90,000 – $130,000 annually (DOE) Key Responsibilities Design mechanical components, structures, mechanisms, and pressure vessels in compliance with ASME and AISC standards Create 3D solid models and assemblies using SolidWorks Produce detailed fabrication, layout, assembly, and installation drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD with GD&T standards Design pressure vessels per ASME Section VIII Division 1 Perform engineering hand calculations (stress, strain, deflection) Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Perform thermal, heat transfer, and process load calculations Develop CFD simulations using ANSYS Fluent Collaborate with fabrication teams to ensure designs support manufacturing Coordinate with vendors to integrate engineered components Participate in R&D and continuous improvement initiatives Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field (ABET-accredited) Minimum 4 years of experience in: Mechanical and structural design Fabrication drawing development FEA and stress analysis Engineering calculations Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines independently
