- Design and develop 3D models, detailed drawings, and bills of materials for check lane systems and related assemblies.
- Collaborate with production, purchasing, and sales teams to ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness of designs.
- Lead prototype development and product testing to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Maintain engineering documentation, including revisions and change notices, in accordance with company standards.
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure proper materials, finishes, and quality standards are met.
- Support sales and project management teams in translating customer requirements into manufacturable designs.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety and industry standards in all designs.
- 3–5 years of experience in product or mechanical design, preferably in retail fixtures or metal fabrication.
- Demonstrated experience designing metal check lanes or similar systems.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent 3D CAD software.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, welding, bending, and assembly processes.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational ability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
- Experience designing powered conveyor systems and checkout stations.
- Familiarity with stainless steel and powder-coated steel fabrication.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and DFMA principles.
- Understanding of electrical or control integration within check lane systems.
